Katelyn O'Brien

Bio

Katelyn is a passionate consumer, critic, and creator of all things media. For her major research project, Katelyn is documenting 2SLGBTQ+ representation in children’s animation accessible in Canada. She will be conducting a quantitative analysis of children’s animated television shows available on entertainment media platforms accessible in Canada, and coding the characters within the shows. She is an animated television enthusiast, and sees the medium as the gateway for universal representation and limitless imagination for all individuals. Outside of school, Katelyn is a part of Ryerson’s Future Makers Program partnering with the Canadian Live Music Association, and is a freelance illustrator and creator.
