Emily Soldano is a Toronto based graphic designer and photographer. She graduated with her bachelor’s degree in graphic design from OCAD university in 2020. She has a real appreciation for communication design and has carried that passion into her MRP this year. Her project explores technologies available in speech synthesis to find, create and improve an emotionally driven assistive speech solution that gives back, not just the ability to express a need vocally, but to do so with the emotion of a person’s native voice. The main focus of the project will be researching and understanding the intricacies of the emotion behind the human voice and how that can be translated digitally through voice assistant technology.
